This policy explains what HOBI collects when you join the waitlist, why we collect it, and the choices you have. We've tried to write it the way we'd want to read it — plainly, and without the fine print games.
Information we collect
When you join the waitlist, we collect your name, phone number, and email address, along with the sports, skill level, and city you tell us about during onboarding.
We also collect basic usage data automatically when you browse our website — things like pages visited and device or browser type.
How we use your information
We use your details to invite you to games and to let you know when HOBI launches in your area.
Your sport and skill level help us match you with the right players and games once bookings open. Aggregated demand data also helps us decide which cities and sports to launch next.
Communication
We'll reach out by phone, SMS, or email about game invitations, launch updates, and occasional product news — nothing beyond that.
You can opt out of non-essential messages at any time by replying "stop" or contacting us directly.
Sharing your information
We do not sell your personal information to anyone.
Once bookings are live, information may be shared with venue partners solely to confirm a game you've accepted an invitation to. We also share data with service providers — hosting, messaging — who help us run HOBI, under confidentiality obligations.
Data storage & security
Your information is stored on secure servers with industry-standard safeguards.
Access is limited to the people on our team who need it to run the waitlist and, later, the HOBI platform itself.
Cookies & tracking
Our website uses a minimal set of cookies to remember your preferences and understand aggregate traffic patterns.
We don't use invasive third-party ad-tracking cookies.
Your rights & choices
You can ask for a copy of the information we hold about you, request a correction, or ask us to delete it — at any time.
You're also free to leave the waitlist whenever you like. Just get in touch and we'll take care of it.
Data retention
We keep waitlist information until HOBI launches in your city, or until you ask us to delete it — whichever comes first.
Once you become an active HOBI user, retention will be governed by our Terms of Service instead.
Children's privacy
HOBI is intended for users aged 18 and older. We don't knowingly collect information from anyone younger than that.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as HOBI evolves. If a change is material, we'll let waitlist members know directly rather than leaving it to a quiet edit.
